Staff Accountant
Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain an Active Secret Clearance - Interim clearance is acceptable for start- Must be US Citizen
The team is looking to hire a Staff Accountant. The Staff Account will be reporting to the Accounting Officer the individual will execute job responsibilities requiring an experienced, professional knowledge of accounting principles and practices. This includes interpreting accounting data, analyzing reports, and recommending action to be taken. Primary responsibility is for Grants and Non-Federal Contracts, and IPA billing processes. Additional responsibilities include: providing accounting oversight and support for the organization; reconciling corresponding balance sheet accounts; and responding to requests from government agency personnel, organization administrators, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), MIT Internal Audit, and external auditors.

There are a few requirements for the position:
- Must be a U.S Citizen- Must be able to obtain an an Active Secret Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
- Must be within 100 miles of worksite (Lexington, MA)
Position Summary:
- Prepare for Grants and Non-Federal Contracts and interagency Personnel Agreement (IPA) invoices and post associated billing journal vouchers.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including Accounts Receivable-Miscellaneous, IPA Deferred Charges, Working Funds Advanced.
- Respond to position-relevant questions from organization/company administrators and government agency personnel.
- Prepare customer aged receivable reports and ensure timely collections.
- Assist in fulfilling internal, external, and government audit requests.
- Maintain process documentation.
- Assist with process improvements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of experience in an accounting environment; prior SAP experience a plus.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, with an emphasis on organization, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Ability to establish positive and effective relationships with a broad spectrum of government agency personnel.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with personnel at all levels within the organization/company and higher educational campus, and internal/external/government auditors.
Must Have
Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years - Accounting experience
- 5 years - Experience with financial analysis and processes
- 5 years - GAAP accounting experience
- 5 years - Software
- 5 years - MS Suite (Excel, ppt)
- 5 years - SAP ERP Purchasing System experience
