Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is seeking a dynamic Tactical Communications Director to drive strategic growth and innovation in advanced communication technologies. This senior role combines strategic leadership, business development, and technical expertise to drive growth in tactical communications solutions, with a focus on 5G and emerging technologies for DoD exercises and operations. The Director will oversee the design, development, deployment, and integration of advanced communications infrastructure, while shaping long-term strategies to expand market presence and secure new opportunities.

Key responsibilities include developing and executing strategic plans for tactical communications initiatives; identifying growth opportunities in the INDOPACOM region and beyond; leading business development efforts such as proposal writing, client relationship management, and partnership cultivation; and providing technical oversight for 5G engineering services, including systems integration, use case solutions, site surveys, R&D, and assessments of DoD 5G infrastructure. The Director will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to establish resilient 5G networks, integrate components across end-to-end systems (Core, Multi-Access Edge Computing [MEC], and Radio Access Network [RAN]), and produce programmatic artifacts like Monthly Status Reports (MSRs), technical reports, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

This position requires a blend of visionary leadership and hands-on technical acumen, thriving in fast-paced, mission-driven environments. The ideal candidate demonstrates innovation, quick learning, strong communication, adaptive problem-solving, and the ability to balance strategic growth with operational execution. Physical capability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) with reasonable accommodations available is required, along with >50% travel (primarily OCONUS; valid passport required). Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills are essential.

Required Experience
  • MBA or advanced degree in Business Administration, Engineering Management, or a related field
  • 8+ years in tactical communication and/or 5G systems program support
  • Experience leading technical teams and overseeing large-scale deployments of operational and experimental 5G networks in remote or contested environments
  • Proven track record in business development, including securing DoD contracts and driving revenue growth
  • 4+ years of operational 5G support, with expertise in strategy formulation and market expansion


Required Qualifications
  • Strategic planning, including financial forecasting, market analysis, and growth roadmaps
  • Business development skills, such as proposal development, client engagement, and partnership building
  • Conducting 5G site surveys and assessing infrastructure needs
  • Network and system design, with a focus on resilient, secure architectures
  • Network and system integration (e.g., Oceus, 5G, Starlink, Cradlepoint)
  • Training from Oceus Networks on CoLT and PONI systems
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated team leader capable of mentoring and developing staff
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, including executive-level communications
  • U.S. Citizen with current TS security clearance (or eligibility to obtain/maintain)
  • Ability to travel >50% (valid passport required)


Desired Qualifications/Skills:
  • Certifications from Keysight, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or PMP are a plus
  • Experience in site surveys, designing, building, deploying, and maintaining 5G infrastructure for the DoD, with a strategic focus on scaling operations
  • Knowledge of Service-Based Architectures (SBA), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and 5G Core network functions, integrated with business growth strategies
  • Scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and data-driven decision-making
  • Cybersecurity best practices for 5G systems, including virtualization, containerization, and segmentation, applied to mission-critical environments
  • Hands-on experience with Keysight spectrum analyzers, 5G communication protocols, and software-defined radios (SDRs), combined with BD acumen
  • Knowledge of FutureG efforts, 6G technologies, and DoD/Federal Agency partners utilizing cellular technologies, with experience in market positioning
