The Agile Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing the execution of multiple interconnected projects using agile methodologies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Principal responsibilities include:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex programs using agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, etc.)
- Coordinate across multiple teams to ensure program objectives are met within established timeframes and budgets
- Facilitate program-level ceremonies including PI planning, demos, retrospectives, and stakeholder reviews
- Identify, manage, and mitigate program risks and dependencies
- Create and maintain program roadmaps, backlogs, and release plans
- Track and communicate program progress through meaningful metrics and KPIs
- Remove obstacles and impediments that affect team productivity or program success
- Coach teams and stakeholders on agile practices and principles
- Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure business value is delivered consistently
- Manage stakeholder expectations through transparent and effective communication
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives at the program level
- Support the transformation and adoption of agile methodologies across the organization
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in program/project management
- 5+ years of experience working with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.)
- Proven experience leading complex programs with multiple teams
- Agile certifications such as SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Thorough understanding of agile frameworks and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS, etc.)
- Excellent leadership skills with ability to influence without direct authority
- Strong facilitation and conflict resolution capabilities
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
- Experience with agile tooling (Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, etc.)
- Ability to manage complex dependencies across multiple teams and projects
- Proficiency in program financial management and resource allocation
- Experience developing and tracking program metrics and KPIs
- Strong stakeholder management and expectation setting skills
- Knowledge of change management principles and practices
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance (TS/SCI).
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Experience in federal/government contracting environments
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
- Background in software development or IT operations
- Experience with scaled agile frameworks like SAFe or LeSS
- Understanding of lean principles and practices
- Experience with digital transformation initiatives
- Advanced certifications such as SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM), or PMI-ACP
- Experience in mentoring and coaching agile teams
- Knowledge of technical domains relevant to the organization
- Experience with distributed/remote team management
