Mid-Level Geospatial Test Engineer

Job Description

Strategic ACI is seeking a Mid-Level Test Engineer to join our fast-paced environment providing quality assurance through the writing and execution of manual and automated regression tests. You will be supporting the development team by testing new software versions as they are completed and directly supporting customers with application troubleshooting. You will also help ensure our products provide reliable performance that our customers require. As a Test Engineer, you will work as an integral member of a software development team translating real-world requirements into technical solutions. The ideal candidate is a software tester passionate about helping to drive our customers and company missions forward. The candidate must be self-motivated, a quick learner, and able to balance simultaneous tasks to keep pace with our team of high performers.

Responsibilities:

• Review quality specifications and technical design documents to ensure proper understanding of system behavior and test coverage needs.
• Design and execute manual and automated test plans and test cases for a range of applications, including web-based Esri ArcGIS solutions, API-driven services, and cloud-hosted platforms.
• Automate regression tests and develop reusable test automation scripts using tools such as Selenium, Python, or ArcGIS Notebooks.
• Execute and maintain automated testing pipelines within CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
• Support back-end testing efforts, including validation of data, review of trace logs, and analysis of stack traces to diagnose exceptions or errors.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives; contribute to test estimation and backlog grooming.
• Log and track defects using tools like Jira; ensure thorough documentation of test results and defect reproduction steps.
• Mentor junior QA testers as appropriate, supporting knowledge sharing and standardization of testing practices.

Qualifications:

Required:

• US Citizen.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of experience, OR a Master's degree in a related field plus 1 year of experience.
• Hands-on experience designing and executing automated and manual tests in a professional software development environment.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, pytest, TestNG) and scripting languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Experience validating applications built on Esri ArcGIS platforms (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Web Apps, ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro)) or similar enterprise systems.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working within a cross-functional team.
• Ability to analyze application logs and tracebacks to assist with defect identification and resolution.
