Statement of Work (SOW)
Background: Internal Medicine Physician - Serves as an Internal Medicine Physician, Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit military treatment facility such as a clinic, outpatient facility, or hospital.
Place of Performance: Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC), Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Tacoma, Washington
Period of Performance: One-year base period, with one-year option period to follow
Schedule: The Health Care Provider (HCP) shall be available and required to work 40 hours per week. (Day Shift)
Requirements:
• Education: Degree: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant’s graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. The HCP shall possess and maintain current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number. All contract HCPs must possess and maintain current course completion documentation for healthcare provider basic cardiac life support (BLS) through an American Red Cross approved training program.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience beyond the residency training (board eligible) or progressive experience equivalent in breadth and intensity within past 3-5 years. Applicants with less than one year of experience beyond residency training will be considered on a case-by-case basis and accepted by the COR in consultation with department leaders.U.S. Citizen and eligible for credentialing and privileging at MAMC.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records and written/spoken English.
Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Examines active duty, family members, and other authorized beneficiaries to determine the presence and extent of diseases and conditions. Administers appropriate care and or referral of cases requiring hospitalization or subspecialty care. May perform the following procedures: Vasectomy, reduction of simple fractures, Lumbar Puncture, emergency deliveries, Endometrial biopsy, joint aspiration/injection, Procto sigmoidoscopy, ECG performance and initial interpretation, interpretation of basic radiographs, insertion/removal of IUD, regional anesthesia, splinting/casting/immobilization of simple fractures, crisis intervention, and advanced cardiac life support.
• Responsible for examination, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of adults and older adults. Exercises independent judgment with full responsibility for professional diagnosis, treatment, referral and disposition of patients.
• Takes ownership, responsibility for the care of the assigned panel of patients. Provides first contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for adults according to current standards of care, the patient-centered medical home model of care.
• Coordinates and/or integrates care across all elements of the healthcare system (e.g., subspecialty care, hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes) and the patient's community (e.g., family, public, and private community).
• Completes required records (both paper and electronic) pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.
• Properly safeguards all reports and records according to the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
