Job Summary:
We are seeking a a talented Software Engineer to join our team in supporting the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) in San Diego, CA.
In this role, you’ll contribute to mission-critical C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence) systems that support the Navy and national defense. You’ll be part of a team that values innovation, modern software practices, and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to work on impactful projects while growing your skills in areas like DevSecOps, containerization, automation, and systems integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, integrate, and test software in support of Navy and Joint C4I systems
Implement DevSecOps pipelines to automate delivery, testing, and deployment
Work with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) to build and manage microservices
Support customers in a cloud/on-prem hybrid environment
Maintain and manage CI/CD pipelines including installs, automated testing, scanning, and patching
Transition external applications into the DevSecOps pipeline—helping product teams get to production faster
Collaborate on automated cybersecurity, static/dynamic scanning, and software quality validation
Provide scripting and system administration support in Linux/Unix and Windows environments
Assist with infrastructure in AWS and virtualized environments (VMware, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field
Security+ Certification (DoD 8570 IAT Level II)
Operating System Certification (Windows, Red Hat Linux, AWS, etc.)
Preferred Experience:
3–6 years of hands-on software engineering experience
Proficient in Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible
Cloud experience with AWS, including administration and deployment
Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby)
Deep knowledge of Linux/UNIX systems and administration
Familiarity with Navy C4I systems and DoD engineering practices
Experience with networking and virtualization (VMware)
Experience with containerization and micro services
Agile/SCRUM project experience
Tech Stack & Tools Environment Overview
Languages: Python, Java, Bash, PoweShell and others depending on the project
Tools: Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Confluence, JIRA, and other modern DevSecOps platforms
Systems: Linux-based environments, Windows, AWS
