Tyto Athene is searching for a Quality Specialist - Journeyman for an opportunity supporting U.S. Southern Command. Positions are located both CONUS/OCONUS at the SOUTHCOM HQ in Doral, FL, and at the TSOC and other locations abroad (GTMO, Honduras, Colombia etc.).
The Journeyman Quality Specialist Assists in quality management activities for the program, supporting all quality efforts. Helps develop and maintain QC processes, procedures, and checklists in support of DODIN operations. This role is responsible for evaluating performance, verifying compliance with contract and regulatory standards, and implementing corrective actions to maintain continuous improvement.

The Journeyman Quality Specialist Assists in quality management activities for the program, supporting all quality efforts. Helps develop and maintain QC processes, procedures, and checklists in support of DODIN operations. This role is responsible for evaluating performance, verifying compliance with contract and regulatory standards, and implementing corrective actions to maintain continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in conducting formal reviews and audits to assess compliance with established performance standards and quality levels
- Supports process improvement activities, root cause analysis, and defect correction efforts
- Assists in collecting and maintaining quality records and contributes to generating quality reports of program activities
- Monitors corrective action processes and helps track key evaluation metrics
- Provides support in managing and reporting on the quality of contract deliverables
- Assists in reviewing quality discrepancies related to program processes and systems and contributes to deliverable quality control efforts
- Helps store contract deliverables electronically and maintains records of all related deliverables, including renewals
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 4-9 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control or process improvement in a technical or defense-related environment
- Experience working with QA standards such as ISO 9001, CMMI, Six Sigma, or ITIL
- Familiarity with audit techniques, test documentation, and configuration management
- Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Experience supporting DoD or federal government programs
- Working knowledge of Agile or DevSecOps environments
- Experience with quality toolsets such as Jira, SharePoint, or ServiceNow
- Familiarity with risk management frameworks (e.g., RMF) or cybersecurity controls
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent QA certifications
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- ITIL v4 Foundations or higher
