Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Systems Engineer with expert-level
experience in Nutanix and NetApp technologies to support a mission-critical engineering
team. This team specializes in the design, implementation, development, and sustainment
of enterprise-class mission systems, networks, and applications in support of cyberrelated investigations across the Sponsor’s initiatives.
The selected candidate will play a key role in delivering high-performance and resilient
infrastructure that enables secure investigative and operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
• Configure, operate, and maintain Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI)
environments to support scalable, high-availability systems.
• Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot NetApp storage systems including data
replication, performance tuning, and lifecycle operations.
• Ensure integration and optimal performance of Nutanix and NetApp components
across secure enterprise networks.
• Analyze and resolve complex system infrastructure incidents impacting availability
or performance.
• Work collaboratively across infrastructure, security, and development teams to
support mission applications and services.
• Implement best practices for system architecture, change management, and
technical documentation.
• Support the engineering lifecycle for system deployments, upgrades, and
migrations.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with NetApp, including system configuration, storage provisioning, and performance tuning.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Nutanix, including deployment, scaling, cluster management, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems in enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise hypervisors such as Hyper-V, VMware ESX, or VirtualBox.
• Working knowledge of Windows infrastructure management tools including Active Directory, SCOM, and VMM.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex problem management and root cause analysis within large-scale infrastructures.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams and effectively document system changes.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with macOS (OSX) in hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with Cisco operating systems, including iOS and NexusOS.
• Exposure to secure government or intelligence community environments.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing configuration
baselines and system documentation.
• Scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) are a plus.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a
related field is preferred.
• Equivalent combination of relevant education, certifications, and hands-on
experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
