Duties

As a Fuel Distribution System Operator, WG-5413-10, you will manage fuel on behalf of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) which consists of operations and maintenance of a fuel distribution system that includes a Type III Hydrant fuel system (at Air Refueling Wings) equivalent to a small fuel farm, fuels laboratory, cryogenic storage, bulk storage, base service station, fuels information service center, mobile fueling operations and the financial account management for missile propellants, aviation fuels, ground fuels and cryogenics utilized in support of aircraft, motor vehicles, engine test cells, powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), generators and heating systems required to support the Wing mission and transient aircraft.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted Only

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and to safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have 18 months of experience or training operating, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and overhauling fuel systems and components. Experience or training initiating and controlling the movement and storage of fuel supplies by operating high pressure systems with a series of terminals connected by cross-country pipelines or multi-fuel storage and distribution facilities connected by a network of internal pipelines. Must have experience inspecting, maintaining, performing operator maintenance, and minor repairs to support equipment and cryogenic samplers to include the following: air purging units, vacuum gauges, vacuum pumps, portable efficiency meters, portable samplers and other support equipment that is required to maintain the cryogenic storage tank in a ready condition to receive, store and transfer LOX or LIN. Must have experience performing preventive maintenance on components and tanks, to include inspections.

Military Requirements:

For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required.
