The Journeyman Internal Communication Lead will serve as a trusted communications partner across the Directorate, providing leadership with strategic internal communication support. This role requires collaboration with stakeholders across multiple directorate locations to analyze, recommend, and implement effective internal communication systems that align with organizational objectives and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Directorate (East, West, South) to build trust and credibility as a communications partner.
- Analyze current internal communication systems and recommend tools, processes, and methods to enhance communication effectiveness.
- Develop integrated strategic resources to facilitate clear, concise, and efficient internal communications aligned with organizational goals.
- Prepare and deliver communications training to increase awareness, adoption, and effectiveness of communication strategies.
- Provide counsel to senior leaders on using strategic communication to advance organizational goals.
- Build compelling narratives around the organization's vision, strategies, and progress.
- Develop and execute customized multi-channel internal communication systems that improve communication culture continuously.
- Revitalize existing channels (e.g., daily e-newsletter), create new platforms (e.g., RQ-All Teams Page), and promote adoption of these channels.
- Establish platforms for senior leader engagement, such as director calls and leader dialogues.
- Draft messages and templates for senior leaders and supervisors to communicate effectively with employees.
- Support supervisors as communicators to drive measurable communication results and impact.
- Track, monitor, and evaluate communication activities; provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Write scripts for various purposes including videos, ceremonies, and events.
- Research current trends to identify and incorporate creative web-based and social media communication tools such as blogs, podcasts, and videocasts.
- Create performance reports related to communication activities, materials procurement, and other relevant metrics.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in internal communications, strategic communication, or related fields.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with experience advising senior leaders.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of multi-channel communication platforms and digital communication trends .
- Ability to design and deliver effective communication training.
Education
- Associate Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field required.
