Northrop is currently seeking a Corporate Counsel - Export/Import who will be responsible for providing legal counsel and driving strategy on a wide variety of U.S. Customs and Import Compliance matters. This position may be in Falls Church, VA or Linthicum, MD. Experience at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is helpful but not required.

Salary Range: $217,300.00 - $312,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Northrop is currently seeking a Corporate Counsel - Export/Import who will be responsible for providing legal counsel and driving strategy on a wide variety of U.S. Customs and Import Compliance matters. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing effective legal counsel in the areas of Import and Customs Compliance for Corporate (enterprise) and Company operating Sectors, including non-U.S. subsidiaries and affiliates. Export (ITAR/EAR), trade sanctions and embargo experience a plus.
- Performing investigations relating to Import and Customs Compliance, preparing Prior Disclosures and/or Protests and responding to CBP Requests for Information, Penalty Notices and/or Liquidated Damages claims.
- Engaging with U.S. Government import and export compliance agencies.
- Developing and maintaining effective interface with internal international trade compliance, transportation/traffic and Global Supply Chain personnel throughout the enterprise, including managing project-specific multifunctional teams from across the enterprise.
- Managing outside counsel and effectively engaging industry partners.
Qualifications & Skills
- Basic Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctorate and active state bar membership.
- Minimum 10 years of legal experience
- Experience with U.S. Customs laws and regulations
- Superior oral and written communication skills, with experience briefing senior management on matters involving significant legal exposure or risk to the Company.
- Extensive experience managing and effectively prioritizing legal issues for operations and activities in multiple international jurisdictions.
- Exceptional integrity, outstanding analytical skills and strategic thinking, exceptional judgment, discretion and a record of managing complex legal matters.
- Strong business acumen and exceptional ability for collaboration, teamwork and motivation of others through thought leadership, coordinating with various functions inside and outside the company.
- Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance as a condition of continued employment.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience at U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
- Previous in-house experience, especially in the defense community.
- An active U.S. Department of Defense security clearance at the Secret level or higher.
- Experience handling matters involving export, trade embargoes and sanctions.
- Expertise with FAR, DFAR, and other U.S. Government agencies' rules and practices.
