Embedded Software Engineer - Cryptography

Reston, VA | Active U.S. Secret Clearance Required

District Partners is supporting an innovative, high-growth technology company standing up a new business line focused on secure embedded systems and advanced cryptographic capabilities. This is a rare opportunity to get in at the ground floor of a high-visibility team delivering mission-critical solutions that directly support national security initiatives.

What You'll Do:
  • Build and maintain the software ecosystem for next-generation hardware platforms powered by modern hardware architectures
  • Implement rigorously tested and validated constant-time cryptographic algorithms from formal specifications
  • Develop secure, low-level embedded systems with a focus on side-channel resistance and high assurance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate secure software solutions into larger distributed systems


What You'll Bring:

Required:
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following: Rust, C, C++, Cryptol
  • Demonstrated experience implementing cryptographic algorithms from formal specifications
  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance (and ability to maintain)

Preferred:
  • Experience developing for low-level embedded systems
  • Expertise implementing constant-time, DPA-resistant algorithms
  • Familiarity with ASN.1 and X.509 standards


Compensation & Details:
  • Base salary: $132,000-$198,000 USD
  • Comprehensive benefits package provided through the client
  • U.S. citizenship required due to clearance requirements
  • Onsite role in Reston, VA-relocation assistance may be considered for qualified candidates
