Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a System Safety Engineering Manager 3. This position will be located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:
The Sentinel Safety Manager is responsible for all safety disciplines across the Sentinel Enterprise including System Safety, Explosives and Range Safety, Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH), Emergency Response Planning and Software Safety. The System Safety team provides the influence and guidance for the safety discipline for the design of our product systems, associated support equipment and facilities and operations. The safety team establishes safety requirements for assigned systems.

The safety team responsibilities include:
• Independently analyzing and recommending safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
• Evaluating the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost effective program.
• Software Safety SWCI and Level of Rigor processes
• Safety activities required to support customer and test/operational range and explosives requirements.
• Accident investigations involving products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.
• Interpreting and making recommendations for compliance with environmental, health and safety (ESOH) and NEPA regulations and/or company policies.
• Assisting in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet environmental requirements.
• Emergency Response Planning

The qualified candidate will have experience in the tailoring and application of standards and specifications such as:
• MIL-STD-882E, DoD Standard Practice Safety
• Safety standards for ballistic missile operational test and evaluation
• Range safety and flight worthiness certification
• Explosives and ordnance safety and disposal
• Occupational safety and environmental safety and occupational health (ESOH)
• Management of hazardous materials and hazardous risks
• Force mishap prevention
• National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) activities
• This position includes functional management and CAM responsibilities.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of related experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Program Access within a period of time, that meets current business needs
• Minimum of 3 years in a formal management position
• Minimum of 3 years experience managing cost, schedule and performance of large government technical statements of work
• Minimum of 3 years of leading system safety MIL-STD-882E (or similar) technical teams on large complex systems
• Experience with AFSPCMAN 91-710, RCC 319-14, and/or RCC 324-11

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Experience preparing a large complex system for functional testing/verification
• Experience with AFSPCMAN 91-710, RCC 319-14, and/or RCC 324-11
• Familiarity with NEPA and facilities development
• Safety Professional (ASP) Certificate
• Weapon System Experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience)

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range: $161,500.00 - $267,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
