OVERVIEW
This is a more junior level position and sometimes is called a Rack Integrator (a Rack is the server rack where the CANES hardware / equipment is installed). This person will perform duties like installing hardware (servers, routers, etc.) and internal cabling in the racks, pulling and terminating cable within the DICE lab. The racks also need to interconnect with other racks/components.
JOB DUTIES
• Rack integration and connectivity. Reading schematics and then setting up the racks and the servers and routers according to the specifications. Cabling and hooking them up and validating everything is powered on and connected.
• Taking an existing configuration in the racks, then when the next “test event” is happening, de-install the current rack configuration and re-build the rack to the new “test event” configuration. Must make sure the old equipment is wiped clean and double checked, then physically installing the new server hardware.
