Role Overview:
Manages the “mission critical” database environment (currently Oracle 19c) and leads database migration from Oracle to MS SQL Server for the TOMIS application suite.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee administration of the Oracle 19c database and plan comprehensive migration to Microsoft SQL Server.
Design and optimize data schemas, maintain data standards, and ensure backup and recovery processes.
Develop and update data dictionaries, stored procedures, tasks, and scripts.
Collaborate with developers to manage database access, structure changes, and tune database performance.
Lead and document strategies for database optimization and migration, ensuring completion within the prescribed contract window.
Support comprehensive data administration, documentation, and standardization efforts across development, test, and production environments.
Participate in user acceptance testing and report on database impacts as the TOMIS application evolves.
Responsible for maintaining documentation, compliance with Section 508, and participation in Agile development and DevOps processes
Qualifications:
10 years deep expertise in Oracle database administration, with significant hands-on experience migrating Oracle databases to Microsoft SQL Server.
Solid understanding of database security, tuning, and troubleshooting.
Ability to develop documentation and standards in collaboration with government IT teams.
