Responsibilities

Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) Subject Matter Expert (SME ) to join our team in the Colorado Springs, CO area in support of Department of the Air Force (DAF) and U.S. Space Force (USSF) programs. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in conducting CDS and classified information system security assessments, reviewing vulnerability scan results including application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), management of Body of Evidence (BoE) artifacts, and assisting in drafting policy. This position requires an active Top Secret with SCI and SAP eligibility .

A successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses initiative, excellent communication skills, the ability to lead diverse teams, to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and a proven problem solver.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
  • Overseeing and ensuring organizations are addressing cybersecurity during all phases of the System Development Life Cycle, including for CDS's, and conducting continuous monitoring and reporting requirements
  • Regularly liaising with external program offices and organizations to mentor, collaborate with, and provide recommendations concerning CDS assessment best practices and ensuring compliance with Security Assessment Report (SAR) requirements
  • Executing and managing tasks related to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG) to ensure CDS compliance and system security integrity
  • Assessing CDS's within organizational cybersecurity architectures
  • Conducting thorough system security and vulnerability assessments to identify potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies
  • Reviewing and making recommendations to improve CDS Body of Evidence (BoE) artifacts throughout the system lifecycle, including review and validation of related documentation.
  • Providing technical guidance and support for audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure mission-critical systems meet security requirements.
  • Preparing technical Security Assessment Reports concerning CDS including preparing briefings, making recommendations for senior management.


Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' of relevant cybersecurity experience, particularly within DoD environments
  • 6+ years of experience in CDS or network diode technologies, including either Cloud Diode solutions or physical data diodes
  • In-depth understanding and application of RMF and CDS principles
  • Experience supporting large system of systems RMF activities and continuous ATO documentation, including conducting security control validation, and developing and maintaining system authorization packages
  • Expertise in performing system security and vulnerability assessments
  • Proficiency in applying STIGs to ensure secure system configurations
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills for reviewing, managing, and mentoring BoE artifacts
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing tasks
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments
  • Willingness to travel based on project needs.
  • Experience with RMF A&A activities and system authorization packages


Preferred Qualifications:
  • DoD 8140 Compliance Certification


Education /Certification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, software development or STEM related specialty
  • Master's Degree in a related field, experience may be substituted
  • DoD 8140.3 Certified


Security Clearance Level Required:
  • Top Secret, SCI eligible (Must be a U.S. Citizen)
  • SAP eligibility (Counterintelligence Polygraph may be required)


Location/Travel Requirements:
  • Place of work is in Colorado Springs, CO area, remote work opportunity is limited
  • May require travel up to 40% of time within the continental United States and may involve overseas travel


The pay range for this position in Colorado is $150,000/year to $200,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract rates, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
