Software Engineer, Specialist

KBR is looking for a specialist-level Software Engineer to support the development and maturation of USAF open architecture standards. Our team leads the charge in architecture development, maturation, and coordination for multiple high-profile programs.

Specific tasks:

• Instantiate, develop, and mature open architecture software in a KBR environment
• Produce and brief demonstrations of open architecture core software and architecture-compliant capabilities
• Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems with established code bases
• A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact
• Performs all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications
• Perform internal testing of software products. Respond to and resolve software discrepancies against documented requirements
• Participates in the design, development, and utilization of scientific/engineering electronic data processing systems software
• Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software for products such as utility software, development software, and diagnostic software
• Participates in the development of engineering test strategies, devices and systems

Required Skills:

• Active TOP SECRET clearance
• Experience with C++ development in a Linux environment
• Experience with modern commercial software development practices using tools like GitLab, Jira, Artifactory, and Nexus
• Experience with collaborative software development in either open source or professional team environments.

Preferred Skills:

• Government acquisition program experience
• SAP experience
• Experience with MBSE and design activities
• Familiarity with modern software development tools, languages, and techniques
• Familiarity with existing DoD open architectures, such as OMS
• Knowledge of military systems and operational tactics
• Developing software/hardware for flight systems

Required Education:

BS in engineering or computer science and 2 years of related experience

Required Experience:

2+ years in C++ software development

Preferred Experience:

2+ years in software development in a classified working environment
