The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Sr. Software Engineering Manager to support our Boeing Research and Technology Team located in Plano, TX, Huntington Beach, CA, or Long Beach, CA .
The senior manager will be leading a group of SW engineers doing research and development effort in a diverse BR&T portfolio in the areas of cyber security and networks, AI/ML, advanced data analytics, factory automation, predictive maintenance, AR/VR, advanced learning and autonomy. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in these areas; a software background is a strong plus. The candidate will work closely with Business unit customers, including BCA, BDS, BGS, BR&T, AvionX, and BT&E, to understand their technology needs, and will be responsible for planning/executing innovative technical research to address the needs.

Position Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse SW engineering team, mostly doing advanced technology development activities
- Lead, develop, and motivate a talented, distributed team. People development is a key element of this job, the candidate will be responsible for staffing growth, for nurturing employees and for providing employees with development opportunities. He or she will also be executing and enforcing SW standard practices in accordance with the SW enterprise organization. The candidate will also be responsible for developing and executing integrated tech plans, policies and procedures, strong operational skills are a plus.
- Proactively managing staffing demand of SW engineers and create a healthy talent pipeline with relevant skill sets
- Coordinate with project stakeholders and facilitate cross-collaboration with enterprise business units, such as BDS, BCA, BGS, BR&T and BT&E project leadership
- Assist software engineering organization and enforce best practices and lessons' learned to various SW projects
- Provides leadership for the development and the execution of integrated tech plans, policies, and procedures
- Drives SW best practices and implementation of solutions across the Business Unit portfolios

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- 10+ years of experience with embedded software development
- 5+ years of experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
- 5+ years of experience with DevSecOps
- 5+ years of experience leading projects and/or individuals in software development lifecycle tasks
- 5+ years of experience with modern software development methodologies
- 5+ years of experience with software development in Agile methodology
- Experience with Cross Cloud communication and architecture
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Experience with DevSecOps / Continuous Integration (CI) using GitLab the ecosystem
- Experience at successfully managing within a complex IPT to produce results within budget, o schedule, and to performance requirements
- Experience at successfully working with a community of diverse software product owners & systems engineering to integrate software into complex systems
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) within an Agile construct
- Experience with multiple SW architectures and paradigms, from embedded on-metal development, to microservices and cloud infrastructure (Containerization, Orchestration, IPCs, etc).
- Experience implementing, developing, and standing up Software environments in classified and air-gapped systems.
- Active secret a plus
