Job Title: Systems Engineer – Use Case Development / MBSE
Location: Huntsville, AL (On-Site, Full-Time)
Clearance: Active Secret Required; TS/SCI Eligibility Desired
Salary Range: $120,000 – $132000 - full benefits included
Position Summary:
Seeking a senior-level Systems Engineer to support system definition, interface documentation, and mission-focused use case development for evolving Missile Defense System (MDS) capabilities. You’ll work closely with cross-functional product teams and technical leads to define and decompose system requirements, drive MBSE artifacts, and support Agile planning through Epic and Feature definition.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and decompose use cases, Epics, and Features supporting customer-requested capabilities
Create and maintain systems engineering artifacts including interface control documents (ICDs), Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs), architectural documents, and requirements traceability
Support formal and informal engineering reviews
Provide mentorship to junior systems engineers on use case development and modeling
Coordinate with MDA working-level counterparts and stakeholders
Interface with technical leads, government customers, and Agile development teams
Technical Requirements:
Experience with systems engineering in a DoD or aerospace/defense environment
Demonstrated experience in mission analysis with skill in development of use cases, sequence diagrams, and SysML modeling in support of MBSE
Hands-on experience with use case and sequence diagram development
Proficiency in SysML and MBSE tools (Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, etc.)
Requirements derivation and decomposition (DOORS, Jama, or similar)
Familiarity with Agile frameworks and Feature/Epic definition
Experience with logical architecture modeling and interface definition
Exposure to Missile Defense or Space Domain systems highly desired
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and system security accreditation
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with MDA programs and Missile Defense architecture
Experience supporting RMF or NIST security compliance
Ability to lead system design efforts with minimal oversight
Strong communication and documentation skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 7+ years
Active Secret clearance required (TS/SCI eligibility preferred)
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification preferred (e.g., Security+)
