Job Requirements
The Test Engineer II is responsible for supporting all aspects of software testing for their team. They leverage their engineering skills and testing mindset to build the necessary systems for the team to deliver a quality product. The person in this position will work independently within the testing context but be highly collaborative with the engineering team.
The Impact You Will Create:
• Writes test plans, test cases, test documentation and bug reports
• Displays personal leadership and works collaboratively with others to create a positive team environment
Your Responsibilities in This Role:
• Writes automated static, unit, integration, contract and end to end tests based on the context of the project, product and environment. Always writes tests to handle expected edge cases and errors gracefully, as well as happy paths.
• When taking action, weighs cost and value in order to take the most economic action with help from more senior engineers.
• Uses a systematic approach to debug issues located within a single service. Uses systematic debugging to diagnose cross service issues, sometimes with help from more senior engineers.
• Usually handles risk, change, and uncertainty within their personal scope of work effectively.
• Consistently writes code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers, and accounts for edge cases and errors.
• Architects testing approaches that are aligned with the overall service architecture within team.

Technical Skills:
- Trained in engineering and/or software design and maintenance techniques
- Practical understanding of engineering concepts and principles
- Ability to ensure products, services, and processes meet strict quality and safety standards
- Skilled in testing equipment for effective and safe process operation
- Ability to interpret technical plans, blueprints, and drawings
- Proficient in contributing to the design and fabrication of test specimens
- Experienced in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) and preparation of shop drawings for model construction
- Familiar with material specifications and fabrication methods
- Responsible for developing DevSecOps and CI/CD architecture for complex systems
- Knowledge of tools, technologies, and methodologies supporting automated build, deployment, operation, and system monitoring
- Ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams to remove CI/CD impediments and improve delivery speed and system reliability
Prior Experience:
- Hands-on experience in engineering-related environments ensuring quality and safety standards
- Experience with testing equipment and ensuring process effectiveness and safety
- Proven ability to contribute to technical designs, fabrication, and model construction
- Background in developing system-wide DevSecOps and CI/CD architectures
- Experience selecting and implementing tools and methodologies to support automated processes
- Track record of working with cross-functional teams to improve system delivery and reliability
- Experience may be achieved simultaneously across roles and responsibilities
Project Specific Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma, GED or related military experience, and/or trade, industrial school graduate diploma; bachelor's degree preferred.
Clearance:
- An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or higher
Requirements:
- TEN (10) or more years of professional experience solving technical problems with a High School Diploma or SIX (6) or more years of professional experience with bachelor's degree required.
