About the Role:
Aquila Technology is seeking a System Administrators join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The team is seeking a System Administrator who will support the network maintenance and feeding to support the group's sensor design, signal and image processing as well as space object and environmental phenomenology worn. This specific team identifies and evaluates threats to U.S. use of space for military, intelligence, civil, and commercial purposes. This work involves understanding the attributes and vulnerabilities of U.S. space-related systems, including the sensors and networks used to detect, track, and characterize objects in space, the satellites that provide space-based services, and the infrastructure used to control and operate these satellites. A central component of this effort involves consideration of how adversaries might try to exploit U.S. vulnerabilities; assessing the risk of exploitation involves technically evaluating the knowledge and resources require to mount a credible threat against our systems at the appropriate security levels. This work requires detailed modeling of optical, radar and propulsion systems; novel ideas for new space systems and on-orbit operations; and understanding the timelines, architectures, and decision-making processes for maintaining awareness of the space environment.

There are a few requirements for the position:
- Must be a U.S Citizen- Must have an active Top Secret Clearance in order to be considered (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
- Must be within 100 miles of Lexington, MA
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Serves as a frontline interface to users with technical issues. Understand computing needs, provide technical solutions and support to users, update system configurations, solve user problems with application compatibility, installation, operating system upgrades and maintaining disk-based back-up system
- Works and partners with other departments, mainly security, to subscribe/ensure IT and security services (RMF and compliance) for group members
- Sets up both administrator and service accounts, tunes system performance, installs and maintains system-wide software and allocate mass storage space
- Drafts and maintains all required documentation for secure environments for approvals
- Performs routine security scans, patches and vulnerability scans to ensure the security integrity of the system
- Makes recommendations for HW and SW purchases, interacts with third-party technology vendors, and conducts system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
- Maintains hardware and software licenses to ensure continuity of service
- May develop and configure system specifications that address functional requirements
- May design and plan network systems, design and/or install wide-scale internal voice and data communications networks (LAN/WAN) and conduct testing of network systems
Must Have:
- Solid understanding/experience of operating systems such as Linux, Windows Server/client OS and related software, and virtualization technologies as well as applying software patch/antivirus updates/backups
- Direct experience and skill developing and administering various sized LAN/WAN environments
- (including DHCP, DNS, NIS, NFS, etc.) and configuring and maintaining Firewall/VPN configurations
- Experience developing scripts to automate various auditing task
- Experience working in an RMF secure environment
- Experience coordinating procurements, installations, upgrades, and other services
- Experience maintaining configuration management of system assets
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, OR a Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience
Nice to Have:
- Experience developing and maintaining Data Loss Prevention strategies utilizing Endpoint Security solutions
- Experience administering Linux variants and VMWare ESX/vSphere/VCenter suite is desirable
- Experience managing network switches, routers, and various cryptographic hardware desired
- Prior experience working in a collaborative team environment desired
- Technical experience and skills, course work completed towards a degree, and industry IT certifications may be considered substitutes for education and DoD security experience
