McLane Advanced Technologies is seeking a skilled System Engineer - Intermediate to support the Defense Finance and Accounting Service's (DFAS) Defense Cash Accountability System (DCAS). The System Engineer will play a critical role in the analysis, design, development, testing, and support of a complex financial management application for the Department of Defense. This position emphasizes technical excellence, secure Agile delivery, and close collaboration with government and contractor teams.

Responsibilities of the System Engineer - Intermediate
McLane Advanced Technologies is seeking a skilled System Engineer - Intermediate to support the Defense Finance and Accounting Service's (DFAS) Defense Cash Accountability System (DCAS). The System Engineer will play a critical role in the analysis, design, development, testing, and support of a complex financial management application for the Department of Defense. This position emphasizes technical excellence, secure Agile delivery, and close collaboration with government and contractor teams.
The System Engineer - Intermediate will:
- Analyze, design, develop, and maintain DCAS software components using PL/SQL, Oracle Database 19+, and UNIX shell scripting.
- Support requirements gathering, functional analysis, and technical design activities for system change requests (SCRs).
- Develop, modify, and test source code in accordance with DCAS software development lifecycle standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Manage configuration and version control tasks, including source code branching and environment refreshes.
- Develop and execute test scripts, document results, and manage test deficiency reports (TDRs).
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, ensuring timely documentation and escalation as needed.
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation, including unit test plans, peer review feedback, and status reports.
- Ensure compliance with DFAS, DoD, and Section 508 accessibility standards, maintaining security and data integrity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including government stakeholders, to deliver high-quality, mission-critical solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 (or equivalent) National Security clearance.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in systems engineering, software development, or technical support, with at least 3 years of recent experience in relevant technologies.
- Proficiency in PL/SQL, Oracle Database 19 or higher, SQL (DML/DDL), and UNIX shell scripting.
- Experience with version control software (e.g., Subversion) and TOAD for Oracle.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders and support Agile teams.
- Experience in software quality assurance, testing, and incident management (ServiceNow, HP Quality Center preferred).
- Knowledge of Defense Business Systems and Treasury cash accountability processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
- Commitment to compliance, security, and continuous learning; completion of all required DoD/DFAS training modules.
