About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Software Engineer - Embedded Systems to join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The group is in need of a talented engineer who can contribute to research and prototyping efforts to create advanced low-power, real-time embedded systems to meet challenging operational requirements in state-of-the-art communications systems. The engineer must be versatile, innovative, and able to participate in high-performing multi-disciplinary teams that produce world-class results. For this effort, we are looking for an experienced FPGA developer who can implement, test, and demonstrate complex communication algorithms developed in Matlab into FPGAs.

There are a few requirements for the position:
  • Full CoVid vaccination
  • U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.

What You'll Do:

For this effort, we are looking for an experienced FPGA developer who is able to implement, test and demonstrate complex communication algorithms developed in Matlab into FPGAs.

  • 2 years Xilinx FPGA
  • 2 years Software/Algorithm Development
  • 2 years FPGA development tools
  • 2 years Software Documentation
  • 2 years Backend Programming (SQL)
  • 2 years C/C++ Programming
  • 2 years FPGA Programming
  • 2 years MATLAB
  • 2 years Software Design/Development
  • 2 years VHDL / Verilog
  • 2 years Hardware and Software Integration

Experience with the Following Technologies:

• Development experience for FPGAs, including RFSoCs, and Xilinx Vivado tool
• Proven experience with VHDL, System Verilog, Matlab, Python, and C/C++
• Experience with real-time digital signal processing and/or linear algebra techniques and their mapping to advanced computational elements

Working Knowledge of the Following:

• Ability to quickly learn new design techniques and tools leveraging online training and specialized courses
• Ability to organize and present experimental data using visualization tools
• Effective written and oral communications skills within multi-disciplinary technical team environments

And These Skills are a Bonus:
• Experience with deployable communication systems
• Experience implementing systolic arrays in hardware
• Familiar with broadband cellular networks, such as 5G
• Experience with embedded system-related programming including microprocessors, Systems on Chip, and sensor interfaces
• A willingness to participate in field operations such system integration and test campaigns

    Location: Lexington, MA

    Work Schedule: Hybrid Schedule - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the Lexington facility. Candidates should expect to be onsite 4 days a week.

    Travel: Estimated at 5% - domestic only.
