Job Description Summary
This is a unique, multi-faceted role that is positioned to have significant impact on the GE Aerospace Research organization and will be a highly trusted position that serves as a strategic member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This role will report directly to the GE Aerospace GM & Senior Director of Research, with a dotted lines to the Compliance Leader for Technology.
The responsibilities for this role can be broken down into three general categories:
• Compliance Leadership: Drive proactive compliance leadership and engagement to prevent, detect, and respond to compliance risks and ensure site-wide compliance with policies, regulations, and laws.
• Separation Closure: Serves as the single point of contact and overall project leader for driving all GE Aerospace Research separation-related activities at the Niskayuna, NY facility to closure.
• Multi-tenant Site Operational Risk Management: identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks that could disrupt daily operations.

Job Description

Compliance Leader
  • Partner with GE Aerospace Research leaders to sustain and grow a culture of integrity globally.
  • With input from business leadership, lead the Compliance Review Board ("CRB") to drive real-time and relevant discussions of compliance topics, risks, mitigation, and program efforts.
  • Coordinate with the GE Aerospace Compliance team to implement business risk assessment initiatives and drive mitigation plans arising therefrom.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific compliance procedures that are aligned with GE Aerospace policies and procedures and additional regulations/laws specific to GE Aerospace Research.
  • Coordinate with Ombuds and investigation teams to support GE Aerospace's open reporting system and foster a culture of superior integrity. May conduct compliance investigations.
  • Partner with Business Compliance and Ethics Leader to design and implement compliance programs involving relevant risk areas and develop applicable and timely compliance communications to embed the program in day-to-day activities.
  • Provide site training to salaried and hourly employees to promote awareness and understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with the global compliance team and relevant business owners to support regular monitoring and audits of compliance areas and support driving requisite improvements/resolutions for issues identified, including identification of trends and conducting root cause analysis of issues.
  • Ensure robust oversight and management of Export Control regulations and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) to maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including the development and/or implementation of related policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Monitor internal and external compliance trends, including compliance initiatives, industry compliance failures and applicable industry-specific regulatory requirements.

Separation Management and Closure
  • Drive operating cadence to systematically monitor and close out projects related to the separation of the site, in partnership with resident business partners.
  • Develop and deploy operational processes and risk mitigation strategies for operating as a co-mingled research environment.
  • Apply FLIGHT DECK to relentlessly solve problems and drive productivity improvements.
  • Monitor and engage with stakeholders of key separation projects, identifying and facilitating tradeoffs when required, documenting decisions, and ensuring that key deliverables are met.
  • Partner with members of the extended team to foster a customer service mindset and ensure healthy and positive relationships with resident businesses.

Risk Management
  • Partner with GE Aerospace Research Transformation Office and onsite Security team to ensure business continuity plans and processes are developed and executed to proactively manage risks.
  • Identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks that could disrupt daily operations, including risks associated with running a multi-tenant facility.
  • Work with GE Aerospace ORM and ERM leadership to identify and manage potential weaknesses in internal processes, systems, and people, as well as external events, to prevent financial losses, reputational damage, and operational disruptions.

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years professional experience in compliance, risk mitigation, legal, operational and/or other relevant areas.
  • Previous experience in: (a) identifying and resolving compliance issues quickly and effectively; (b) ability to make timely and informed management calls with proven ability to drive operational excellence; and (c) implementing compliance policies, processes and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and to facilitate risk-assessment analysis and strategic decision-making.
  • Experience with U.S. Government funded research and development-including projects funded by DoD, NASA, DoE and funding vehicles including contracts, subcontracts, CRADAs, Grants, Cooperative Agreements, and OTAs.
  • Strong business acumen, with an ability to understand strategic business objectives and drive compliance in an organization under tight operational and time constraints.
  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct.
  • Experience conducting internal compliance investigations, and coordinating with local, state, and federal law enforcement on sensitive investigations and legal matters.
  • Superior communication skills, inter-personal skills, mature judgment and independent thinking.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills that simplify complexity and concisely convey advice to business teams.
  • Champion of the GE Aerospace Behaviors of Respect for People, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Driven.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Government Security clearance.

Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in business, law or compliance/ethics.
  • Experience with DoD Business Systems requirements.
  • Knowledge of DoD pricing requirements such as Truthful Cost or Pricing Data, FAR cost principles, and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Understanding of Export Control restrictions including ITAR and EAR.
  • Experience with DCSA security regulations and NISPOM and the ability to work with other functions on the protection of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Understanding of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) and familiarity with unionized employees.
  • Familiarity with Acquisition Policy issues such as commercial item contracting, data rights / IP strategies, industrial base issues.
  • Experience regarding DoD data security requirements including CUI and CMMC.
  • Knowledge and experience related to storage and handling of classified information.
  • In-house experience.
  • Ability to collaborate and negotiate across organizational/functional boundaries to influence all levels of the Research organization, parent business, and outside stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills with organizational process conceptualization and implementation.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, analytical, and organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines and achieve desired result in a stressful environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale programs impacting and involving multiple stakeholders whose priorities may not always align.
  • Experience with crisis management and handling dynamic and sometimes conflicting priority setting.
  • A work history that demonstrates leadership and ability to work in a matrix reporting environment.


The base pay range for this position is 150,000 - 275,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary. This posting is expected to close on July 16, 2025
