Position Title: Jr. Security Information and Event Mgmt (SIEM) Engineer Internship

Description of Duties:
The Jr. Security Information and Event Mgmt (SIEM) Engineer Internship supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.
The intent of this internship is for the individual to develop the experience and skills needed in preparing for a Junior Applications Engineer position which includes: The ability to demonstrate the completion of basic application management/troubleshooting tasks, and the ability to work more complex tasks with little to no direct supervision.
The candidate will:
• Contribute to the sustainment of current and future operations of the multiple cyber applications platforms and organization.
• Integrate with team members and accomplish assigned tasks.
• Support the Cyber Infrastructure Support - Continuous Monitoring Team with Operations & Sustainment (O&S) activities associated with all cybersecurity applications within the MDA environment.
• Be assigned a mentor and obtain initial familiarity with existing cybersecurity application platforms such as ArcSight, Elastic, Tenable ACAS, Trellix ESS, Tanium, and Cisco Comply to Connect.
• Complete required training and certifications necessary to obtain privileged accounts to complete O&S tasks.
• Assist in the administration and maintenance of the cybersecurity suite of applications to include:
o Account management
o Patching/updates
o Troubleshooting/issue resolution
o Agent deployment
• Assist in the planning and implementation of new cybersecurity tools
• Assist in troubleshooting and solving complex technical issues independently and/or with the help of teammates.
• Contribute to and manage after action, root cause, daily status, and activity reports.
• Assist with developing and updating documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures.
• Must be able to support after-hour maintenance window work, as needed.
• Assist with other applicable cybersecurity tasks.

Basic Requirements:
• Must have at least 1 year of general (full-time) work experience
• Must have, or obtain within 3 months of start date, a current IAT Level II Certification (Security CE)
• Must be able to maintain a restricted badge and work on site 3 days per week
• Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Clearance
Desired Requirements:
• Have experience with Windows and/or Linux environment troubleshooting
• Have a familiarity with the MDA and BMDS programs
This position is expected to pay $43,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
