We are seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer to lead, design, implement, and maintain complex IT systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring stable and secure systems operations, optimizing performance, managing upgrades, and supporting system integration across voice and data communication networks. This is a senior-level position requiring both technical leadership and hands-on expertise.

This is a senior-level position requiring both technical leadership and hands-on expertise.
This is a proposal-based position; employment is contingent upon contract award and funding availability.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design, develop, and implement enhancements and changes to network hardware, server environments, operating systems, and attached devices.
- Provide oversight and hands-on support for daily operations of network hardware and operating systems, including system utilization analysis, response time monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot hardware and network issues at both the physical and logical layers using specialized tools and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).
- Lead planning, technical reviews, and implementations of new network infrastructure and operating systems.
- Perform systems integration and management, including virtualization and storage solutions.
- Maintain and enforce network infrastructure standards, including adherence to communication protocols and security practices.
- Provide technical consultation, mentorship, and training to IT staff as designated by the government or organization.
- Diagnose and resolve advanced system and network communication problems.
- Manage deployment, patching, testing, certification, and security posture of systems.
- Ensure systems remain current with approved updates and contribute to certification and accreditation processes.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation such as SOPs, Quick Reference Guides, and operational manuals.
- Provide architectural direction and serve as a technical expert for client/server environments and IT infrastructure strategies.
- Support procurement decisions by advising on optimal technology solutions for storage, processing, and application performance.
- Establish and maintain standards for client/server relational databases and data access systems.
- Assess feasibility of future projects and provide input to management on strategic IT initiatives.
Location & Clearance Requirement:
- Active Top Secret clearance is required to be considered for this position. You must be eligible for SCI access and a CI Polygraph.
- This position will be onsite 100% in the Washington, DC area.
Required Qualifications:
- Five (5) + years of experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field is required. In lieu of a degree, will consider 4 years of additional employment.
- Demonstrated expertise in systems integration, infrastructure design, and network troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and network administration.
- Proficient with network protocols, including TCP/IP, and in diagnosing both hardware and software communication issues.
- Experience with server architecture, data storage systems, patch management, and system hardening.
- Ability to write and maintain system documentation and contribute to policy and procedural development.
- Capable of leading high-impact projects and mentoring technical staff.
- Active Top Secret clearance is required to be considered for this position. You must be eligible for SCI access and a CI Polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or VMware VCP.
- Experience supporting classified or government environments and familiarity with system accreditation frameworks.
- Working knowledge of backup and disaster recovery systems.
