Job Title: Principal Investigator / AI Logistics Solutions

McLane Advanced Technologies is seeking an accomplished Principal Investigator (PI) to lead a transformative Army AI logistics project under the SBIR program. This role is responsible for the scientific, technical, and programmatic leadership required to deliver innovative, production-ready AI solutions that advance Army logistics operations. The PI will ensure project feasibility, compliance, and successful commercialization, leveraging deep expertise in enterprise AI, Army logistics, and adaptive supply chain technologies.

The Principal Investigator / AI Logistics Solutions will:

• Direct all phases of the Army AI logistics project lifecycle, including research, development, deployment, and delivery of project milestones, ensuring alignment with project goals, sponsor requirements, and compliance standards.
• Architect, design, and implement AI/ML solutions for Army logistics, focusing on production-ready enterprise AI platforms and guiding technical teams in methodology, data integration, and solution scalability.
• Demonstrate, through prior work and documentation, substantial experience in developing and deploying AI solutions similar to the proposed effort, as required by SBIR solicitation guidelines.
• Build, mentor, and supervise cross-functional teams, including logistics experts, data scientists, and software engineers. Serve as the primary liaison with Army stakeholders, end users, and external partners.
• Ensure strict adherence to Army, DoD, and federal regulations, including CUI protocols. Identify and mitigate project risks related to technical delivery, data security, and operational integration.
• Drive the transition of R&D outcomes into scalable, market-ready products. Lead efforts to secure additional funding and build commercialization strategies for both defense and commercial markets.
• Prepare and deliver technical reports, milestone updates, and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Communicate project progress and findings to all stakeholders.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of Army logistics processes, systems, and operational requirements to ensure the AI solution addresses real-world Army needs and integrates with existing logistics workflows.
• Guide the technical direction of the project, especially in the design, development, and integration of AI or machine learning solutions. Oversee IT infrastructure, data management, and software development activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and compliance with security and data protection standards.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field; or a minimum of 15 years of directly relevant experience in enterprise AI and logistics solutions.
• Demonstrated success in leading and commercializing complex AI/ML projects, ideally within the federal or defense sector.
• Substantial experience in Army logistics operations and AI-driven supply chain solutions.
• Hands-on deployment of enterprise AI platforms (e.g., C3.ai or equivalent) in production environments.
• Track record of building and scaling AI solutions for large organizations, with preference for experience supporting DLA or similar agencies.
• Deep expertise in AI/ML, data analytics, and IT system integration.
• Strong program management skills, including Agile or PMP certification (preferred).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
• Ability to provide documentation of substantial prior work relevant to the proposed SBIR project, as required by the solicitation.
• Experience navigating DoD information security, export controls, and compliance requirements.
