Principle I&C Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Principle I&C Engineer to join a Federal Program in Greenville, SC. The I&C Engineer will contribute to DOE's nuclear security and environmental remediation enterprise by providing the highest-caliber staff and experts.

Responsibilities of the I&C Engineer include:

• Offers technical guidance and oversight to assigned engineering personnel as needed
• Conducts reviews of construction documentation as necessary
• Executes a wide array of Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) engineering tasks, including defining designs, developing control system architectures, configuring digital systems, PLCs, DCS, network setups, logic programming, switch configurations, process control strategies, P&ID support and validation, HMI development, communication protocol integration, routing and layout planning, SIL assessments, and procurement coordination
• Applies and interprets National, State, and Local codes, standards, and client-specific design criteria in the development of electrical design and construction documentation, technical specifications, and system narratives from design through commissioning
• Develops engineering cost estimates and project schedules
• Produces and validates engineering calculations and technical specifications for accuracy and completeness
• Requires proficiency in computer-aided drafting tools

Qualifications for the I&C Engineer include:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 15 years of experience specializing in Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) engineering.
• Extensive background in the design and integration of control panels for large-scale capital expenditure (CapEx) projects.
• Proficient in structural and electrical design tools such as STAAD, RISA, or equivalent CAD software.
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) or comparable industry standards and codes.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Compensation for the I&C Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $180,000 - $195,000 depending on experience
