Site Reliability Engineer III

The Site Reliability Engineer III leads the design, development, and implementation of secure, scalable infrastructure that enables fast, reliable delivery of software solutions. This role translates complex business requirements into technical architecture, aligns stakeholders on infrastructure strategies, and mentors team members. They also ensure production environments are secure, observable, and responsive, even during off-hours when required by contracts.

Their work reduces technical debt, increases delivery efficiency, and strengthens platform reliability. Their leadership directly influences team velocity, product security, and uptime, while driving adoption of best practices and mentoring engineers for long-term success.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:
  • Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure solutions. Translate complex business needs into technical solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Drive the full infrastructure lifecycle, from planning to deployment and support.
  • Develop and automate CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and system workflows to reduce manual overhead and improve team efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software-defined networks, compute resources, and databases.
  • Drive observability and monitoring practices through implementation of SLIs and vulnerability management.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to improve infrastructure and suggest improvements beyond the scope of a single team.
  • Review code and provide actionable, constructive feedback to peers. Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to support cross-functional delivery.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members in infrastructure, architecture, and technical process topics.
  • Maintain awareness of business workflows and ensure infrastructure solutions align with customer outcomes.

Technical Skills:
  • Deep knowledge of infrastructure layers including operating systems, networking, identity, and access.
  • Proficient in architecting and implementing cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Skilled in configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, or Puppet. Proficient in Docker image creation, deployment, and debugging. Strong proficiency in Linux (RHEL family) and Bash scripting.
  • Experienced in CI/CD practices and tools. Advanced git capabilities including rebasing, squashing, and managing pull requests across teams.
  • Working knowledge of software and web application development concepts. Proficient in securing infrastructure at all layers (application, network, and system).


Soft Skills:
  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to translate business objectives into infrastructure strategies.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence team and organizational processes through insight and initiative.
  • Skilled in managing workstreams independently and guiding cross-functional initiatives.


Prior Experience:
  • Senior-level experience designing and implementing production infrastructure systems.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, distributed systems and secure architectures.
  • Experience working in government or enterprise-scale environments is preferred


Project Specific Qualifications:

This role includes additional qualifications to help us deliver bold, impactful work for our clients.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree

Other Requirements:
  • Proficient in at least one programming language and framework (e.g., Python/Django, Go, Java/Spring, Node.js/Express, Ruby/Rails).
  • Holds certifications such as AWS Developer Associate, AWS Solutions Architect, Certified Scrum Master, or CompTIA Security+.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.

Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.

Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.

Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

The salary range for this position is:

Minimum Salary: $102,540

Salary Midpoint: $133,302

Maximum Salary: $164,064

Hiring Range: $102,540 - $153,000
