Are you a highly experienced Network Engineer with a passion for secure, scalable infrastructure design and implementation? We're looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Network Engineer who thrives in complex, mission-critical environments and brings deep knowledge of network architecture, cloud integration, and Network Access Control (NAC) technologies.

The ideal candidate will bring 16+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering, with hands-on expertise in Cisco platforms, NAC implementations, and secure hybrid-cloud network solutions. The location of this job is Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage complex enterprise network architectures across on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Deploy and optimize Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, particularly Cisco ISE, across a wide range of network appliances and endpoints
  • Configure and troubleshoot core network services including routing (EIGRP, BGP), switching (STP, LACP), and security protocols (ACLs, VPNs, firewalls)
  • Monitor network performance, identify potential threats, and implement remediation strategies proactively
  • Support network automation, virtualization, and SDN efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve operational agility
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, design specs, implementation plans, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers on network engineering best practices and security standards

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with 16+ years of relevant experience (or 14+ years with a Master's) in Network Engineering or related field
  • SME-level experience in designing and managing enterprise networks with a strong focus on Cisco platforms
  • Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and routing/switching technologies
  • Proficiency with NAC platforms and security tools (Cisco ISE, Cisco ASA/FTD, etc.)
  • Experience with Linux systems, network scripting (e.g., Python), and infrastructure automation tools
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking principles and hybrid-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required

Desired Experience:
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, RHCA, or similar
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and NAC profiling
  • Knowledge of firewall and VPN technologies and management tools
  • Experience with network virtualization and Software Defined Networking (SDN) platforms
  • Background in securing complex network environments and implementing zero-trust architectures
  • Broad understanding of systems engineering and modern network design principles

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00

Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
