General Function:
- Design, implement, and manage secure cloud-based and on-premises data storage solutions to meet organizational requirements.
- Plan and execute migration of data storage systems to authorized Department of Navy (DoN) cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Analyze, plan for, and execute data backup, replication, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Monitor storage performance, capacity, and reliability; conduct performance tuning and optimization.
- Develop and maintain storage architecture documentation, including configurations, workflows, and recovery procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate storage solutions with other systems and applications.
- Support compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, RMF requirements, and STIG/SRG guidelines for secure data storage.
- Conduct risk assessments related to storage and cloud architecture; implement mitigation strategies as needed.
- Provide technical leadership in evaluating emerging cloud storage technologies and making recommendations for adoption.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage and cloud infrastructure issues in a timely manner.
- Support capacity planning and scalability to accommodate future data growth.
- Participate in project planning and reviews to ensure storage architecture aligns with Navy mission needs.
- Attend virtual meetings with the customer.
- Work in approved DoD environments.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical degree from an accredited college or university.
- 7+ years' experience in software engineering or IT systems architecture, of which 3 years must demonstrate experience as a Cloud Engineer/Architect with a proven record of accomplishment of cloud engagements and digital transformations (e.g. working with Azure or AWS, developing technical strategies used for rollout; and building cloud governance plans).
- IAT-II Certification: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP.
- Must possess and maintain government security clearance at the Secret Level.
- Proven experience designing and administering enterprise storage solutions in cloud and hybrid environments.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, DoD-authorized GovCloud environments) and cloud storage technologies.
- Strong expertise in data backup, replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Proficiency with storage protocols, data migration, and storage performance tuning.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including RMF, STIGs, and SRGs.
- Solid understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies for data storage and cloud environments.
- Strong documentation skills to develop and maintain architectural diagrams, procedures, and policies.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineers, developers, security teams, and management.
- Strong multi-tasking skills are essential.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or Navy programs with classified data storage requirements.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools to manage storage infrastructure efficiently.
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) or large-scale data storage for mission-critical systems.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps pipelines and their integration with secure storage solutions.
- Background in supporting data analytics, machine learning, or AI workloads in a cloud environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to system optimization and innovation.
- IAT Level III certification.
