Title: AI Scientist/Engineer

Note: This position is contingent upon Government approval.

Job Description

We are seeking a team member with strong technical background in Artificial Intelligence to provide technical advice and project management on novel AI based programs at DARPA in Arlington, VA. As an AI Scientist/Engineer, you will provide technical project research, development and oversight, while relying on your technical experience to provide insight, guidance and technical direction. You will provide technical writing and brief development, cost analysis of proposed research and development activities and coordination with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have experience with one or more technologies and areas including AI, robotics, complex systems and startup / venture capital world.

100% onsite with potential for alternative work schedule depending on the needs of the client.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and guide technical reports, briefings, and other technical communications
  • Shape technical research project development
  • Development of technical analyses, identification of technology gaps, technical risk management and project cost estimation
  • Engage stakeholders and collaborators across various DoD agencies and services
  • Prepare DARPA work products including presentations and reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in AI, robotics and/or complex systems.
  • Academic background in complex systems
  • Experience in the startup / venture capital world.
  • A Master's Degree in physics, mathematics, other related degrees or equivalent work experience.
  • US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • One or more publications in a journal on complex systems
  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance
  • Prior experience working programs at DARPA as a technical support contractor.
  • Knowledge of DARPA processes and procedures.
  • Expertise and strong interest in the above technical areas.
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas needed to broadly support program goals.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Self-starter who is willing to both take the lead and provide support in a team role in a complex, fast-paced, cross-disciplinary work environment.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and respond to quick turn-around requests.
  • Flexible and readily adaptable to change.
  • Familiarity with DARPA technical, programmatic, and contractual environment.
