Wireless Network Engineer - Secret Clearance (SSBI) - Wiesbaden, Germany
This wireless engineer role supports wireless project design, implementation, installation, and O&M. The wireless engineer contributes to the formulation of architecture approaches to onsite customer wireless development initiatives. The network engineer will participate in high-level collaboration and coordination meetings and working groups with other architecture groups within the customer organization as well as external vendors. Design wireless networks in accordance with DoD and Industry standards, select appropriate equipment and hardware to support the installation and management of a wireless network, develop ROMS/LOMS and purchase requests, and ensure proper network accreditation and perform the required network defense.

HOW A WIRELESS NETWORK ENGINEER MAKES AN IMPACT
- Support to Non-secure Internet Protocol Network (NIPRNET) wireless management capability.
- Assists the government in reviewing wireless designs to ensure that the designed meet requirements and is compatible with government STIGs, including (but not limited to) the Network Infrastructure Policy Security Technical Implementation Guide and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Approved Products List (APL).
- Assists the government in supervising the installation of wireless capability.
- After installation, implements and manages the wireless capability, to include the CAC-enabled EAP-TLS authentication and all required certificate management.
- Configure and manage Cisco systems and ensure the network is protected and secure.
- Provide pro-active network management of switches routers, and other ancillary devices to ensure a constant state of readiness and availability.
- Ensure the network is properly configured and operating efficiently while maintaining constant network availability and 100% network uptime.
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on a regularly scheduled basis and provide touch labor service support as needed.
- Provide Communication Security (COMSEC) support for the organization.
- Properly handle and safeguard Controlled Cryptographic Items in accordance with Army Regulations and local security policies.
- Provide support as the COMSEC hand receipt holder to include requisition, accountability, issuance, key management, destruction and associated records management.
- Assist the team with logistics support as required.
- Works closely with Architects/Engineers to coordinate strategies for defining, deploying, and maintaining the wireless architecture and its associated network connections and component hardware.
- Providing engineering analysis and resolving issues, determining and documenting problem root causes.
- Providing technical training, documentation, and technical assistance to the supported organizations.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Security Clearance Required: Secret SSBI Clearance
- Certifications: CCNA Wireless Certification at a minimum and DoD 8570 certification such as a CompTIA Security+ CE certification; CCNP Wireless; ITIL experience & training
- Required Experience: 8+ years plus relevant and related military/government experience performing network engineering, specifically in VoIP, and network and systems administration support is required. Experience in IT project management is desired.
- Required Skills: experience with scoping, designing, installing, implementing and maintaining a wireless network; understand best practices when designing and implementing wireless security; Must have experience with wireless controllers, access points, Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking: Must possess strong management and leadership skills and experience managing a team of 5-20 network administrators and systems administrators.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or IT Degree in related field plus 5-8 years of direct network engineering experience
