Come join us! We are looking for a Warfare Systems Engineer to support the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The duty station will be on-site at the Washington Navy Yard. Remote work will not be considered. This for an Auxiliary Systems Engineer, reporting to the Auxiliaries Systems Engineering Manager (SEM), supporting the three Ford Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and their Deputies. Occasional travel may be expected in this position.

Duties of a Warfare Systems Engineer may include:
- Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Ford Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Auxiliary System Engineering Manager (SEM)
- Collaborate with the SUPSHIP Newport News to resolve Auxiliary System technical matters
- Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), and Nuclear Liaison Action Request (NLAR)
- Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) and support development of new SCDs
- Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP, Newport News Shipbuilding, & other activities
- Develop and issue Auxiliary Systems Government Furnished Information (GFI) packages to Newport News Shipbuilding
- Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide written technical recommendations
- Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit written proposals for changes.
Qualifications:
- Engineer with 10 years relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; OR an Engineering Technician with 10 years relevant shipboard experience consisting of Active Duty service in either the USN, USCG or Merchant Marine.
- Experience with one or more of the following auxiliary systems: Air Conditioning (AC) plants, refrigeration systems (including modular systems), seawater and fresh water systems including pumps, oxygen and nitrogen generating systems, and/or Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Experience with US Navy, US Coast Guard, or Military Sealift Command vessels, preferably experience with nuclear powered ships
- Worked with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), and/or Type Commander (TYCOM) or similar organizations supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of shipboard auxiliary systems. Experience working with NAVSEA technical authority (e.g. NAVSEA 05 and 08) and experience working with non-technical leadership is a plus.
