HX5 is currently seeking a qualified System Administrator (Linux/Storage) tosupport the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Salary: This position is expected to pay $107,700 - $132,700 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

HX5 is currently seeking a qualified System Administrator (Linux/Storage) tosupport the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems.
- Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot storage systems/arrays.
- Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices.
- Utilize and follow developer-provided documentation to build and configure server/system hardware and software to baseline specifications.
- Research technologies and leverage optimization techniques to ensure systems operate efficiently.
- Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions.
- Assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis as needed.
- Provide timely updates to appropriate team leaders, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting
efforts. - Make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements.
- Collaborate and communicate with internal and external team members and customers as needed.
- Identify developer-documentation errors and provide appropriate channels / personnel for correction.
- Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problems and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty
systems. - Perform evening shift work and weekend duty as needed to meet off-hour mission activities.
Salary: This position is expected to pay $107,700 - $132,700 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
Education and Experience:
- Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- HS Diploma (or GED) and twelve (12) years of general experience
- Associate's degree, or higher, and ten (10) years of general experience
- Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of general experience
- Master's degree and six (6) years of general experience
- Must have 7 years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual
machines, and troubleshooting - Must have 1 year of experience working in a management or leadership role
- Must have strong knowledge of storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, cloud storage, and backup solutions.
- Must have familiarity with storage management tools (e.g. NetApp, EMC, Dell, IBM, etc.)
- Must have experience with storage protocols (e.g. iSCSI, FC, NFS, SMB)
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex storage related issues
- Must have experience building, configuring and deploying servers/systems using VMware 7.0 (or higher)
- Must have administration experience on RHEL 7 and 8 using Command Line Interface
- Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE
- Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
- Have experience working with Ansible automation
- Have network troubleshooting experience
- Have experience implementing Multi Factor Authentication methodology
- Have experience with H P server hardware
- Have experience with NetApp Storage
- Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations
- Have Project Management experience
- Degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.
Other Position Requirements:
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance by date of hire.
- Must be able to travel, including air travel.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
