Principal Database Engineer- TS Clearance

This position requires an active Top Secret Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.

Solidus is hiring a Principal Database Engineer. This is an onsite role based in Sterling, VA.

Day in the Life:

• Identify and understand customer needs and apply sound, demonstrable understanding of database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering to translate those needs to viable design solutions
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well
• Successfully integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products as part of customer-driven solutions
• Use proven problem-solving and analytical skills

Required:

• US Citizen with an active Top Secret Clearance
• Undergo a comprehensive background investigation
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of Database Engineering experience
• Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions, such as Oracle and Postgres, or related systems
• Experience working with Systems and Software Engineers to design, implement, and modify backend databases to interact with applications
• Experience virtualizing or containerizing databases
• Experience using Linux command line to perform database administration activities
• The ability to complete polygraphs
• Obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start
• Familiar with creating, updating, and managing databases and the code that interacts with them

Preferred:

• Active TS/SCI is preferred
• Existing Security+ Certification
• Experience with AWS database services
• Experience with NoSQL database products such as MongoDB and DynamoDB
• Data architecture experience for data design decisions (such as best DB for a use case)
• Experience troubleshooting database issues such as DR, replication & backups and other related issues
• Experience troubleshooting performance issues
• Experience with database security controls and audit & compliance requirements
• Experience with automating routine tasks
• Experience with Spatial databases
• Coding experience (SQL, Python, Java) is helpful

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $135,000 -$189,000. Customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies, certifications, clearance status, and benefit selections will influence the final salary.
