AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. This Information Security Systems Engineer will work within the Defense Acquisition framework for undersea combat systems supporting national defense priority mission areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and programmatic Information Assurance Services to internal and external customers in support of network and information security systems.
  • Designs, develops and implements security requirements within an organization's business processes.
  • Prepares documentation from information obtained from customer using accepted guidelines such as DITSCAP (DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process).
  • Prepares Security Test and Evaluation plans.
  • Provides certification and accreditation support in the development of security and contingency plans and conducts complex risk and vulnerability assessments.
  • Support the engineering aspects of defense acquisition projects, including requirements development, system design, integration, verification, and validation
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of key acquisition documentation (e.g., SOWs, specifications, test plans, and technical reports)
  • Assist in managing project schedules, technical risks, and resource allocation
  • Participate in technical meetings, milestone reviews, and supplier/vendor engagements
  • Ensure compliance with DoD acquisition policies, technical standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, scientists, program managers, and government customers
  • Compile data, analyze problems, and recommend effective solutions to support decision-making
  • Support the implementation of cybersecurity requirements and system resiliency measures, as required


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline (Master's preferred)
  • 2-5 years of engineering experience in defense acquisition, systems engineering, or a related field
  • Security + Certification Required, CSWF Certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition lifecycle, policies, and standards (such as DoDI 5000 series)
  • Hands-on experience with technical documentation, requirements management, and system integration
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Active or re-in statable SECRET security clearance


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $67,800.00/Yr. - USD $113,200.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
