Description
USI is seeking a highly qualified Senior Aviation Military Analyst - Cargo Helicopter Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) at Fort Novosel, AL. This position supports the Aviation Capability Development and Integration Directorate (A-CDID), focusing on the development, integration, and analysis of current and future Army cargo helicopter capabilities.
This role is ideal for a senior or master-rated Army Aviator with extensive experience in cargo helicopter flight, instruction, and staff roles, along with a strong background in capability development and the tactical employment of aviation assets in large-scale operational environments.

This position supports the Aviation Capability Development and Integration Directorate (A-CDID), focusing on the development, integration, and analysis of current and future Army cargo helicopter capabilities.
This role is ideal for a senior or master-rated Army Aviator with extensive experience in cargo helicopter flight, instruction, and staff roles, along with a strong background in capability development and the tactical employment of aviation assets in large-scale operational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level analysis and recommendations on the tactical and operational employment of Army cargo helicopter systems.
- Lead and support capability development efforts related to cargo aviation platforms through Joint Working Groups, DOTmLPF-P assessments, and collaborative studies.
- Contribute to the development of JCIDS documentation (ICDs, CDDs, CPDs), ensuring alignment with Army aviation modernization priorities.
- Support experimentation and analysis efforts to evaluate new technologies, mission capabilities, and future force structure.
- Deliver technically sound and high-quality written products, including: White papers, concept papers, operational views, Requirements documents, capability development plans, PowerPoint briefings, and executive-level summaries
- Participate in strategic Army initiatives such as the Army Aviation Operations Capabilities-Based Assessment (CBA).
- Provide detailed sub-analyses to support broader capability studies and operational assessments.
- Serve as a senior contributor or team lead on aviation studies related to cargo platform capabilities and limitations.
- Support planning and execution of tactical aviation missions at echelons ranging from battalion to theater-level formations (400-2800+ personnel).
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 15+ years of Army Aviation flight and combat operations experience.
- Instructor Pilot (IP) or Standardization Instructor Pilot (SIP) in cargo helicopter formations.
- Experience in the currently fielded tactical cargo aircraft within Army Aviation units.
- Rated Senior or Master Army Aviator.
- Experience as a Maintenance Test Pilot or Maintenance Examiner in cargo aircraft.
- At least 5 years of experience in combat development or capability development.
- Prior tactical operational staff experience in planning, training, and executing aviation operations in large formations (400-2863+ personnel).
- Demonstrated experience in leading or supporting Joint Working Groups and conducting capability studies.
- Experience leading a team that authored a JROC-approved JCIDS document is required.
- Direct team participation in the Army Aviation Operations CBA is preferred.
- Operational experience employing cargo helicopters in combat operations is required.
- Education:
- Completion of a military or civilian staff course equivalent to CGSC/ILE or Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Skills:
- Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to produce and review graduate-level products with minimal edits.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to work independently under senior-level guidance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Security Clearance:
- Active SECRET clearance required.
