You will be an Engineering & Technology Manager (ETM) responsible for leading a team of System Safety Engineers and driving technical excellence, system safety, and program execution. Our team is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of complex systems, and you will play a key role in providing technical mentorship, building team proficiency, and collaborating with program management and technical leadership to support programs with team resources.
What You Will Be Doing
As an ETM, you will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing engineering team, providing technical mentorship and training, and collaborating with program management and technical leadership to support programs. You will also be responsible for evaluating System Safety analysis techniques and processes, forecasting team resource needs, and participating in technical interviews.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Building and leading a high-performing engineering team of System Safety Engineers
• Providing technical mentorship and training to build team proficiency
• Collaborating with program management and technical leadership to support programs with team resources
• Evaluating System Safety analysis techniques and processes to standardize work products and activities
• Forecasting team resource needs and participating in technical interviews
• Developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, and hazardous material management plans
• Analyzing and recommending safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures
• Preparing and delivering presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings
• Flowing down system safety requirements to suppliers and verifying design implementation
• Assisting in requirements development and verification
• Reviewing specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for impacts to system safety
• Supporting customer and test/operational range requirements
• Participating in the development of testing activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied
• Preparing technical documentation and presentation material to support independent safety board meetings

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Science degree in an Engineering Field or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in System Safety Engineering discipline
• Engineering management or team lead experience including task planning, budget management, and technical mentoring
• Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical systems/programs
• Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882
• Interim Secret Clearance required to start
Desired Skills:
• Ability to make formal presentations to large groups and be able to interact well in a team atmosphere with engineers, subcontractors, program managers and customers
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Safety Review Boards and developing their Tech Data Packages
• Implementing a Software Safety Program with established Level of Rigor
• Familiarity with applicable industry safety standards (MIL-STD-1316, MIL-STD-1901, DoD SW Safety Implementation, etc.)
• In-depth knowledge of missile systems and energetics management
• Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction
• Proposal development experience with Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
