MTSI is looking for an enterprise cloud architect to design and construct scalable software development and test environments for multiple high-profile acquisition efforts. This is a role with a wide berth that will have a focus on transitioning on-prem workloads to one or more hyperscale environments.
• Collaborate with multiple organizations with similar and diverging requirements on cloud architecture & strategy
• Understand organization's strategic needs and develop/maintain implementation plan supporting customer requirements
• Advise leadership on technical feasibility of network plans and proactively advocate for recommendations to mature environment offerings
• Evaluate new cloud technologies and make substantiated recommendations for improvement
• Identify the best cloud solutions to successfully meet the strategic architecture needs of the organization
• Regularly evaluate existing cloud infrastructure to identify risks or opportunities for improvement
• Assess legacy mission infrastructure and functions to determine the best candidates for transition to a cloud-based solution
• Develop cross-domain solutions to manage the transfer of unclassified software and data to classified networks
• Support continuous integration/continuous testing/continuous delivery (CI/CT/CD) software development processes in a hybrid cloud environment
• Support prototyping & troubleshooting of complex systems spanning between on- and off-premises cloud environments
• Offer guidance in capability/service movement techniques, including bulk application transfers into the cloud
• Be part of an agile team to cross-functional boundaries and mentor others on cloud services
• Support preparation and submission of accreditation packages to acquire an Authority to Operate (ATO)
• Identify and proselytize best practices for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), & Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud solutions
• Document engineering standards, proposals, and/or recommendations for system design, engineering changes, and configuration management relating to cloud infrastructure
• Prepare and present detailed road maps and plans to transition to the defined end-state cloud architecture; estimate cloud total cost of ownership (TCO) and potential return on investment (ROI)
• Assist in the development of required organizational processes and structure for cloud adoption & management
• Support assessment and consolidation of disparate existing services into a comprehensive, maintainable offering
• Assist in the development and training of client personnel for adoption and management of cloud assets.
Required Skills:
• Minimum of 7 years working experience in one of/many of a DevOps, Security Engineering, or SRE role.
• Outstanding communication skills, including briefing technical recommendations to organizational leaders, and the ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements.
• Highly proficient in modern cloud providers, especially Azure and Google Cloud.
• Highly proficient with agile methodologies and tools including source control and CI/CD.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc) and container tools (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman etc).
• Programming ability in one or more general purpose languages (C++, Rust, Python).
• Understanding of public cloud networking concepts.
• Experience deploying complex and scalable cloud applications.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with one or more existing DoD classified development networks
Required Education:
BS in a technical field (preferably computer science or electrical engineering)
Required Experience:
12+ years in software development, infrastructure design, or DevOps
Preferred Experience:
12+ years in software development in a classified working environment
