Microsoft Projects Subject Matter Expert
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance required
Contract: IRES (Integrated Research & Development for Enterprise Services)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications $80,000 - $189,162 DOE
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Project Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the IRES contract in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is essential in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules and executing effective resource management across multiple engineering and technical teams. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in MS Project and a strong background in coordinating schedules and aligning resources in complex technical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain detailed, resource-loaded Microsoft Project schedules for enterprise engineering efforts.
• Develop and manage integrated master schedules (IMS) aligned with program milestones, deliverables, and technical objectives.
• Apply advanced resource management techniques within Microsoft Project, including resource leveling, capacity planning, and workload balancing across project teams.
• Coordinate across functional teams to gather schedule inputs and ensure logical sequencing of tasks and dependencies.
• Analyze and optimize the critical path to improve project execution and forecasting.
• Conduct regular schedule reviews and provide status updates and variance analysis to stakeholders.
• Facilitate communication of schedule data to internal teams, leadership, and government partners.
• Support planning meetings, readiness reviews, and performance reporting.
Essential Qualifications:
• Active DoD Secret clearance required at time of application.
• Proven experience as a Microsoft Project SME, including setup and management of complex project schedules and calendars.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Project features such as task modes, task dependencies, constraints, milestones, and resource management.
• Hands-on experience with critical path analysis, earned value metrics, and schedule risk analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, and task misalignments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex schedule data to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
• PMP, PMI-SP, or similar project scheduling certification.
• Familiarity with DoD program environments, particularly the IRES contract or similar efforts.
• Experience with other scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6) is a plus.
