ManTech seeks a motivated, career-focused, and customer-oriented Technical Lead, Shared Application Services to join an on-site team in either: Falls Church, VA, San Antonio, TX, Aurora, CO, or Tacoma, WA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead the technical team responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of a Modular Enterprise Platform - a set of containerized, microservices-based APIs, SDKs, and shared backend services supporting both mobile and web applications across the Military Health System (MHS) and its global user base.
  • Oversee container orchestration and registration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECR, etc.) to enable rapid, secure, and compliant software delivery of both Web and Mobile applications.
  • Collaborate closely with application development teams (mobile and web) to ensure that shared services meet functional, performance, and security requirements.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical lead who can directly mentor engineers, review and write production-quality code, and guide implementation based on real-world experience delivering modular shared services at scale - not just conceptual architecture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for platform scalability, reliability, and maintainability through monitoring, automation, and DevSecOps best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of progressive experience as a software developer and technical architect, with at least 2+ years as a technical team lead focused on shared services, APIs, and backend systems supporting a mix of mobile and web software teams/projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following modern programming languages: C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java - with production-level experience building backend services, APIs, or platform SDKs.
  • Strong understanding of both relational (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cosmos DB) database technologies, including data modeling and integration into service architectures.
  • Familiarity with legacy frameworks such as ASP.NET (Web Forms and MVC), ColdFusion, or classic SharePoint customization, with demonstrated modernization and migration experience.
  • Expertise in microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Windows Containers, Azure Kubernetes Service, etc), and cloud-native application development.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps toolchains in secure or highly-regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, SDK design, messaging protocols, and backend integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with DoD or federal cybersecurity standards (RMF, STIG, IL4/IL5, HIPAA).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Defense Health Agency (DHA), MHS, Veterans Administration (VA), or other federal health agencies.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or similar.
  • Prior experience working with user bases exceeding 10,000, preferably in contexts involving operational healthcare, clinical training, or readiness systems.

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Physical Requirements:
  • Office work, typically sedentary with some movement around the office.
  • Ability to travel (car or air) and present at conferences or meetings.
