Plans Analyst, Mid

Key Role:

Work on projects enhancing military readiness and employment. Analyze available information, develop and test options, write plans and orders, and assess organizational progress to aid in accomplishing the organization's campaign and operational objectives. Participate and provide input throughout all planning functions, from translating strategic guidance through concept and plan development to plan assessments and associated functions. Contribute to the development, revision, and coordination of campaign, support, and contingency plans, including commander's estimates, base plans, concept plans, and operations plans. Identify, analyze, and evaluate complex systems, policies, and processes, coordinate and manage planning lifecycle events, and provide planning support with a focus on improving operational and contingency readiness, to include participation and facilitation of wargames, tabletop exercises, and command post exercises. Impact the work we do for supporting readiness from competition to conflict and the solutions we deliver for informing senior level decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as an Operational Planner
  • 3+ years of experience with Joint Task Forces (JTF), Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF), or Major Subordinate Command level
  • Experience with the Joint Planning Process (JPP), Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP), Naval Planning Process (NPP), and Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP), including drafting briefs, orders, papers, and correspondence to support senior leadership decision-making and inform higher headquarters
  • Experience supporting military planning at operational and tactical levels, including leading operational planning teams, joint planning teams, and coordinating battle rhythm events
  • Knowledge of Joint Operation Planning and Execution Systems (JOPES) and Adaptive Planning and Execution Enterprise (APEX) planning formats and guidance
  • Knowledge of Marine Corps Service-level concepts, doctrine, and campaign plan design
  • Ability to coordinate across staff functions and command echelons and brief senior-level leaders, including general and flag officers
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree


Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Indo-Pacific Command Area of Responsibility
  • Master's degree
  • Graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College
  • Completion of Planning Course or a related Course
  • Completion of Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1 and 2, Joint Advanced Warfighting School, Maritime Advanced Warfighting School, School of Advanced Warfighting, School of Advanced Military Studies, or NATO Comprehensive Operations

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
