Communications Specialist and Legislative Analyst, Mid

The Opportunity:

As a communications professional, you know how to inform and engage key audiences and help promote an organization's desired reputation. We're looking for an experienced communications specialist like you, who is ready to share your knowledge and willing to win for the client and live our mission every day. Here, you'll use your skills and experience to design, develop, produce, and advise on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that support Defense clients.

As a communications specialist on our team, you'll develop creative solutions to complex problems. Your self-guided yet collaborative spirit will shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to advocate, present, and justify Defense programs to legislators.

As the organizational advisor of all aspects of oral and written communications, you'll oversee and author background reports, policy briefs, issue papers, and messaging, talking points, and speeches for senior government officials.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in legislative affairs, government affairs, lobbying, or as a congressional staffer
  • Experience researching issues, developing expertise, and drafting concise messaging, talking points, and speeches for senior government officials
  • Experience writing background papers and policy briefs
  • Knowledge of the National Defense Authorization Act and Defense Appropriations bills
  • Ability to independently research and analyze legislative, regulatory, and policy documents
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Policy


Nice if You Have:

  • Experience supporting senior DoD leaders in Military Departments or the Joint Chiefs of Staff
  • Experience managing a legislative portfolio including defense, national security, or foreign affairs
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Master's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, or a similar field


Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
