Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Phantom Works is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (Level 4) to support the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) organization in Berkeley, MO.

This position is within Phantom Works Systems Engineering (SE) as a Supplier Requirements Engineer (SRE). As a SRE you will work with experienced engineers to develop, prepare, coordinate, and maintain significant portions of the Buy-to-Packages imposed on Boeing suppliers to include the Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW) and Supplier Data Requirements Lists (SDRL). The SRE is also involved in the development of the supplier Request for Proposal (RFP) and subsequent supplier proposal evaluation. Specific RFP and proposal evaluation responsibilities include the preparation of the evaluation of the technical, management and cost sections of supplier proposals and support of the resulting supplier negotiations including data gathering and information discovery at supplier facilities. Preparation of material requisition is also required.

Position Responsibilities
  • Work closely with engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment to develop SSOWs and SDRLs for a variety of complex systems.
  • Lead the structured requirements process to create SSOWs to ensure clear, unambiguous, verifiable and affordable requirements.
  • Collaborate with Program Management and Engineering functions to support the Customer needs.
  • Use the understanding of engineering processes to communicate requirements into contractually sound technical documents.
  • Review customer's prime requirements to ensure linkage to the Supplier's derived requirements.
  • Fact-find and evaluate the engineering, management and non-recurring elements of Supplier's proposals and support negotiations.
  • Develop and implement systems engineering processes for organizations in Phantom Works and other business units.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9 or more years' related work experience
  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience involving system requirements


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills working across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience using all of the following Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Collaboration & written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in performing technical evaluations, fact-finding and negotiation.


Typical Education & Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range: $128,350 - $173,650
