Senior Network Security Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to join a National Defense Contract located in Sierra Vista, AZ through 100% onsite presence . The Senior Network Security Engineer will support 24/7 secure network operations, focusing on Tier III support, network optimization, and service ticket resolution.

Responsibilities of the Senior Network Security Engineer include:

• Operate & maintain centralized secure network solutions, supporting 24/7/365 Global Cyber Center operations with network status updates
• Apply standard policy configuration updates
• Manage & resole service tickets using JIRA and ServiceNow platforms
• Escalate unresolved issues to higher-tier teams when needed
• Provide clear, regular updates on ticket and system statuses to leadership
• Work with stakeholders to assess legacy environments & identify network enhancements
• Investigate & apply network optimization strategies to meet performance benchmarks
• Contribute to advanced Tier III support with in-depth network troubleshooting

Qualifications of the Senior Network Security Engineer include:

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree
• 6+ years of experience and a Master's degree
• Experience with Palo Alto NGFW, VMware, Red Hat, and InfoVista
• Strong knowledge of SDN concepts and multiple vendor technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Dell, etc.)
• Hands-on with LAN/WAN, BGP, VPN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, and firewall protocols
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, JIRA, and network management tools (e.g., Cisco Prime, Panorama)
• Comfortable with Linux scripting, network monitoring (SNMP, NETMON), and Git-based tools
• IAT Level II (Sec+)
• Active Secret Clearance
• Preferred: CCNP, experience with NetSecOps tools (Salt, Ansible, Terraform, etc., familiar with CI/CD pipelines, Kafka, Elastic, Grafana, and more
