Job Summary

Understands C4I shipboard installations with the ability to work with minimum supervision and be a team player. This position requires strong communication and verbal skills for communicating with ship forces, vendors, and peers. Works under pressure, multitasking, and working in fast fast-paced environment. Duties will include providing support services for East Coast shipboard installations in the areas of scheduling, status reporting, de-conflicting converging efforts of other agencies and contractors other than NIWC. Reviews and red lines installation drawings experience is a plus.

Telework is not supported. Travel is required. 

Responsibilities and Duties

Provides the NIWC CANES AIT Manager with on-site installation management oversight of shipyard and other installation contractors and tradesmen.  Candidate liaisons between the NIWC OSIC and the NIWC AIT Manager to adjudicate issues that will affect installation production and system testing. Review installation drawings, makes recommendations for red-lines and develop LARS.   Attend Production Meetings, compare installation POA&Ms to actual progress.  Makes decisions on the deck-plates to deconflict issues that slow production. Walks spaces where installation affects, look for potential roadblocks or items that may cause delay and disruption to AIT, write LARs to mitigate, ensure the AIT is conducting install according to MIL STDs and GSO, monitor progress of AIT, submit DSRs documenting independent observations, assist ISEA and GOVT with light off of equipment, troubleshoot faulty equipment/cabling, install shock mounts on racks prior to AIT landing on Foundations, coordinate with ships force on various aspects of the install. 

Qualifications and Skills

Required knowledge and years of experience

Must have at least eight (8) years of C4I shipboard installation experience. Must have MS Office experience, PowerPoint, Excel, understand MS Project (POAMs). Must have the ability to read and interpret Ship Installation Drawings. Must have written and oral communication skills.

Education Requirements

High School, GED, and Navy background preferred.

Certifications

OSHA Maritime 10-hour course. VSRA certified Certifications as a Shipyard Competent Person, Electrical Connector Fabrication, Fiber Optic Fabrication.
