What You'll Get to Do:
As part of the SWDC program, the WSS team offers opportunities to support the U.S. Missile Defense System through the development of Modeling and Simulation applications used in warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation, developmental engineering, testing and verification, and assessment. The selected Software Engineer will support the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) project as part of the WSS team. Candidate will design, develop, test, document, and integrate features using C++ and/or Java programming language hosted on a Linux operating system. Primary responsibilities include designing and developing software to model various Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) element capabilities.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 0 years of related experience.
• Familiar with developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or Java.
• Understanding of a software development life cycle.
• Applicants must have an active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD Secret level.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with C++ or Java
• Experience in software development, including analysis, design, code, test and integration.
• Experience in Atlassian Tool Suite
• Strong, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
• Knowledge or experience in several of the following: missile defense domain knowledge, infrared space surveillance, and modeling and simulation development.
• Experience in agile software development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
