As a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the development, integration, and operational support of flight test instrumentation systems. These systems are critical to capturing performance data for aircraft under test, ensuring safety, compliance, and engineering analysis for high-visibility programs.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design & Integration: Design, configure, and integrate aircraft instrumentation systems to meet flight test objectives.
Hardware & Software Development: Build and maintain data acquisition tools and systems to support test operations.
Aircraft Installation & Configuration: Oversee the installation of instrumentation hardware on test platforms, ensuring accurate setup and system validation.
Flight Test Operations: Provide direct support during ground and flight tests, troubleshoot real-time issues, and monitor system performance.
Data Analysis & Documentation: Review collected data for accuracy and completeness; contribute to test reports and configuration records.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure systems meet engineering standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Configuration Management: Maintain traceability of equipment and test configurations across the life of the program.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in lab, ground, or flight test environments
5+ years working with instrumentation and data acquisition systems
Experience with precision test equipment (e.g., sensors, transducers, DAUs)
Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) or equivalent project tracking tools
Previous support of flight test or flight operations environments
1+ year experience designing test equipment for aerospace or military programs
Ability to travel domestically as needed
Willingness to work variable shifts (nights/weekends occasionally during critical testing)
Preferred Qualifications:
Active U.S. Secret Clearance
Background in aerospace or defense flight test instrumentation
Experience supporting classified or proprietary military programs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
