Job Title: Electronics Technician I
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Charleston, SC
Travel: Up to 80% (CONUS/OCONUS)
Overview:
We are seeking an entry-level Electronics Technician to support system installation and maintenance efforts for network infrastructure projects. The role involves hands-on work with cabling, equipment installation, testing, and system troubleshooting in both field and lab environments. This position involves significant travel and requires the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform structured cabling installations, including raceways, CAT6/CAT6A, and single-mode fiber optics.
• Terminate and test copper and fiber cables using Fluke Networks equipment.
• Install and secure equipment racks, panels, and associated hardware.
• Conduct system-level and component-level testing to ensure quality and functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in support of sustainment operations.
• Follow all site safety guidelines and ensure proper use of PPE.
• Maintain effective communication with supervisors and team members.
• Ensure task completion within scheduled timelines and with high attention to detail.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in electronics installation and/or maintenance.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of formal electronics training through one of the following:
• Military (Class A/B school),
• Technical school or 4-year apprenticeship,
• OR industry certification such as BICSI Installer 2 (Copper or Fiber) or Technician.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and use of protective equipment.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing tasks and priorities.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must be eligible for CONUS and OCONUS travel and possess (or obtain) a valid passport.
Preferred Experience:
• Installation experience with Cisco or Aruba wireless access points.
• Active BICSI Installer or Technician certification.
Physical Requirements:
• Lift up to 75 lbs (occasionally) and 30 lbs (frequently).
• Climb ladders and work at heights up to 60 feet.
• Frequent physical activity including kneeling, crawling, squatting, and overhead work.
• Must have good vision and hearing (with or without correction) and be able to communicate effectively in English.
